Health Benefits of Yoga
For thousands of years Yoga has been in practice by those who want to learn how to control their own
bodies. Ancient theories about the connection between mind and body are now being proven through modern medicine. Yoga is used to align mind, body, and spirit. It is thought that through aligning all three will lead to a healthy body that will be peaceful and heal itself. Many people who begin practicing Yoga are looking to feel better, have more energy, and feel more at peace.

There have been proven health benefits that stem from practicing Yoga.  Research on Yoga breathing, Yoga meditation, and Yoga postures is being conducted to further understand what benefits you get from each aspect of practicing this art. There are three categories that have had confirmed benefits to the body. These areas that have had the most research are physiological, psychological, and biochemical effects There are many physiological benefits to practicing Yoga. Blood pressure has a significant decrease for those who practice on a regular basis. Immunity is found to increase which helps keep you from becoming ill as often. Your weight is likely to normalize because you are using and strengthening muscles. Muscles are known to burn more calories. Balance and hand-eye coordination is known to increase as well. For those who suffer from pain this is a good way to help elevate the pain in your joints or muscles.

Some of the benefits of the psychological aspect are anxiety and depression decrease. This is one of the main reasons why so many begin to practice the art of Yoga. Because with less anxiety in you life you are less likely to be stressed. Stress alone can lead to many health problems. Depression can also cause different health problems because you are less likely to not exercise your body.

Benefits such as the biochemical ones are very important. High cholesterol is a problem for many people even those who exercise regularly. Research has shown that through Yoga your bad cholesterol will decrease and your good cholesterol will increase. Your hemoglobin in your red blood cell will also increase which mean more oxygen for your body.

So many people want to know why you would choose Yoga over traditional exercise. The answer is that with regular exercise you are only focusing on your outer body, but Yoga focuses on both inner and outer body strength.
